About The Designer

Christiana 'Nana' Afotey was raised in a Ghanaian household as the last of three older siblings and was always learning something new. At a young age, she found herself to be curious enough to learn how to speak her native language (Ga), Ghana's history and beautifully rich culture.

"Whenever I visit Ghana, I fall more in love. Each visit presents an opportunity for me to educate myself about my ancestors, different cultures and the way of life in Ghana."

She couldn't resist sharing a piece of the Motherland with you. Each item that Threads by Dreads produces, represents a piece of culture, not just from Ghana, but a deeply rooted history from those that paved the way for her today. Her wish is for you to fall in love with Threads by Dreads African clothing equally as she has during this historical journey.

TBDF Award Ceremony

Fashion With A Purpose

In honor of Mrs. Fedelia Adokailey Mensah, the late mother of Christiana, a scholarship was created as a dedication to her memory.

This award serves as a conduit in cultivating aide in community re-investment and contributes to building a brighter future for children all over Ghana. We couldn't do this important work without you.
